2005 SEASON NEWS
Well, the season got off to a very wet start.
The first few weeks were iffy weather wise, and a couple were called off! But as it progressed, we had fine weather for racing!
Throughout the season, Jimmy continued to do well, winning a few more heat races to add to his collection.
I do believe he has close to 30 heat wins to his credit! However, the feature win has eluded him for another season! He was consistently in the top ten in the features, with about 85% of them finishing in the top 5.
For all his hard work and fun times with friends and fellow racers, he wrapped up the season finishing 4th overall. He was also voted Most Sportsmanlike for the 3rd year in a row (a track first!) which makes it 4 years out of 5 taking that honour.
Jimmy has had a ton of fun driving Mini Stock for the past 5 seasons, but that chapter has come to an end. During the 2005 season, he purchased a Limited Late Model which he intends to run for the 2006 season. The Mini Stock was given to fellow racer Jamie Sprayson who intends to run it at Kawartha Speedway in 2006.
Jimmy ran the Limited Late Model for 4 nights at the end of the 2005 season. He is getting used to all the extra horses under the hood, and of course the difference from a Tercel to a rear drive Camero. It is a huge learning curve and will take some time, but we hope to have a good season.
At the present time, we are getting ready for the Ice Race season which starts January 21, 2006. There will be a few cosmetic changes to the car this year, including some wild colour accents, and we will be running the mandatory Menard Stud tires. Hopefully Mother Nature cooperates and gives us some snow and cold weather so the track can be built and racing can commence on time!
We would like to thank all those who helped us this past season, especially with the new car! Without such things as Wayne's patience, Jeff Bell's vast knowledge of stock car building, Jamie Sprayson's talent with a paint gun, Craig Graham's help in ordering an engine and other parts, Todd Delisle's portable scales, Conor, Krissy (a.k.a. Master of the Notebook) & Susie's help as part of our pit crew and all the support, advice and pointers along the way, this new venture would not have been possible. Sharon and I both deeply appreciate everything you have done and are looking forward to a great season next year!!
