Jimmy's racing career began in January 1999 when he joined Peterborough Motor Sports Club (PMSC) and started Ice racing.  His first car, a 1981 Toyota Tercel, was given to him by fellow club member and former Ice Racer, Wayne Christie.  He competed in Class 3, front wheel drive long wheelbase for his first 4 years, switching to a 1985 Toyota Tercel after two seasons.  He then moved onto class S1, metal to ice rear wheel drive where he drove a 1985 Toyota MR2 for a full season and for the last two years has been in class S3, metal to ice front wheel drive in a 1989 Toyota Corolla GTS.

He received ROOKIE OF THE YEAR for 1999 with an overall standing of 35th out of 65 and a class standing of 11th out of 20.  He has continued to climb in the standings with every season and in 2001 he was PMSC's Ice Race Runner-Up.  In 2002, 2003 and  2004 he was not only PMSC's Ice Race Champion, but Series Class Champion as well for 2004.  He finished 3rd in his class for the 2005 season, once again winning PMSC's Metal to Ice Champion.

Midway through the 2004 Ice Race season, Jimmy decided to try his hand at a Rally.  The Peterborough Motor Sports Club hosts several venues each year, and one is the Snowy Safari Rally.  Jimmy's friend Jeff Bell was navigator, and although they did finish 4th last, they had a blast!!!  No future plans for rallying are in the works, but you never know!!

In 2001 Jimmy joined the Peterborough Hyundai Subaru Mini Stock division at Peterborough Speedway.  He dragged (literally) the 'Christie Car' out of retirement (the back 40), put a cage in it and entered it at the speedway.  He started midway through the season and finished 4th in his class and also earned the Most Sportsmanlike title as voted by his peers.   He drove that car for 2 1/2 seasons until an unfortunate accident rendered it destined for the scrap yard.  He tried his hand next with a 1979 Toyota Celica, rear wheel drive, but lost it coming out of turn 4 in a heat race and hit the wall hard.  The result was a scramble to make it ready for the next heat race and feature, which was accomplished, but the car was never the same after that.  His next car and current car is a 1991 Toyota Tercel.  He has continued with the Mini Stocks  earning a 4th place in 2002 and a driver profile in INSIDE TRACK Magazine, a tie for 6th place in 2003 and 4th place again for 2004.  He was also voted Most Sportsmanlike for both the 2003 and 2004 seasons.  Although he has several heat wins to his credit, the feature win still continues to elude him.  He hopes to correct this in the near future.

For the 2005 Peterborough Speedway season, he wanted to move up to the Thunder class, running a 'Craftsman Truck Series' style Chevy, but due to circumstances beyond our control, the truck will not be ready in time for the start of the season.  So, once again, he will enter the Mini Stock division and hopes to run the truck, when completed, on his off nights and for invitationals and special events.  It will be ready to run full time in the 2006 season!!

Well Folks....looks like there will be a change in class for the 2006 season!!  Instead of running Thunder class as planned, Jimmy will be running in the Limited Late Model (LLM) class!  We are in the process of building the car as I type this, hoping to run at least two nights this season when the Minis aren't scheduled (Sept. 10th and Oct. 1st).  I have my fingers crossed that all will be ready before then to at least get in a night of practice before he actually races.   I will add updates and pictures as they happen.   GOOD LUCK JIMMY in this new adventure!!!!
