So far the season has been pretty good at Mosport International Speedway. Considering this is a rookie season for Jimmy in the Limited Late Model, he has reached his goal for this year. He said at the beginning of the year that he wanted to finish in the top 10 in points, and that's exactly where he's sitting......10th. With only 3 or 4 nights to go he's hoping to maintain or move up.
It certainly has been an eventful year so far. His confidence in the car and track have greatly improved since the season opener. He's had two major crashes, the first of which saw him hit the tire wall and crumple up the car pretty good. The second, in my opinion, was worse because it resulted in a 20 minute visit to the ambulance. The car faired better this time and once Jimmy got his bearings back, the car was repaired and he ran the feature.
We have met many new friends during our first season at Mosport and have had a chance to catch up with a few old friends who race there as well. There is always someone willing to lend a hand or a tool when something goes wrong.
After a 3rd crash which took place at Peterborough Speedway on August 12th, the car took on a whole new look/body. The damage was so bad, it couldn't be straightened out again. On a restart, the person starting behind Jimmy had his throttle stick wide open and used our car as a launching ramp to put himself over the wall. The plus side to the night was that Jimmy won his first heat race in the LLM.
We went back to Mosport for one night, and didn't end up finishing the season. I believe Jimmy placed 14th in points and he won the "Hard Luck" award for the year!
We have registered and will be racing at Peterborough Speedway for the 2007 season of Limited Late Models. We look forward to 'going home' again after spending a year at another track.
